Tourism Dollars For Rainforest Research

The Skyrail Rainforest Foundation has contributed $105,000 towards tropical rainforest research and education projects over the past 18 months.

This support was made possible thanks to the generosity of the tourism industry and Skyrail Rainforest Foundation members.

In particular, the Foundation would like to thank: Skyrail Rainforest Cableway and its guests, Destination Cairns Magazine, Cairns Colonial Club Resort, Reef & Rainforest Connections and Eyeful Home Technology Inc.

Max Shepherd, a Skyrail Rainforest Foundation Director, said the Foundation was pleased to support studies and projects, aimed at understanding and preserving our rainforest flora and fauna, ecosystems, processes and biological interaction.

"Hundreds of thousands of tourists visit our region each year, with the primary aim of experiencing our unique environments, the reef and the rainforest," Mr Shepherd said.

"The Foundation was established in 1995 with the primary objective of raising and distributing funds to support tropical rainforest research and education projects; it provides a 'vehicle' for visitors, and the tourism industry in general, to give back to this precious environment."

The Skyrail Rainforest Foundation is registered as a tax deductible recipient: if you would like to support its activities please visit or phone (07) 4031 2977.
